SUMMARY:Big Band | A Tale of Two Big Bands: The Music of Gordon Goodwin & Jim McNeely
DESCRIPTION:Opening Act\nWright State University Jazz Band\, directed by Matthew Anklan. \nTwo towering voices of the modern big band era\, Gordon Goodwin and Jim McNeely pushed jazz in bold new directions with music that was as sophisticated as it was thrilling. Following the untimely loss of both artists in 2025\, the Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra celebrates their remarkable legacies—from Goodwin’s unmistakable West Coast sound and high-octane arrangements to McNeely’s adventurous\, boundary-pushing compositions. Experience the full spectrum of contemporary big band jazz in an exhilarating tribute to two visionary artists whose music continues to inspire and electrify. \nDoors open at 6pm for dinner service. \nConcert Sponsor: John Lieberman\nMusic Sponsors: Brad Pickard & Vicki Young\nOrchestra Sponsor: Ed Lyon \nPlease note: Zoomtown and Fuse email accounts do not accept emails from our ticketing provider. If you have an alternative account – such as a Gmail or Yahoo account – we recommend using that instead for ticket purchases with the CCJO. If you only have one of these accounts\, proceed with your order and plan to give us your name at the box office on the concert day to be manually checked in.
